Can you get a sick note from a private doctor?
Yes. As a CQC-registered, GMC-led private clinic, Ready Health can assess your illness or injury and issue a private sick note (or fit note) without you waiting for an NHS GP appointment. How much does a private sick note cost at Ready Health?

What is the difference between a sick note and a fit note?
A sick note confirms you are not fit to work for a period of time. A fit note (Statement of Fitness for Work) certifies whether you are fit, not fit, or could return with adjustments. Our clinicians can issue either, depending on what your assessment shows and what your employer requires.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Please bring valid photo ID, any medical documentation relating to your illness or injury (such as letters, prescriptions or discharge notes), and access to your NHS records via the NHS App. This helps our clinician assess your condition accurately and issue your certificate during the appointment.
Is a private sick note valid for my employer?
Private medical certificates from a registered clinic are widely accepted by UK employers as evidence of sickness absence. Acceptance is ultimately at your employer’s discretion, so if you are unsure we recommend confirming with your HR department before booking.
Do you have access to my NHS medical records?
No. Ready Health does not have direct access to your NHS medical records. Any information used for your certificate comes from your NHS App and the consultation during your appointment, which is why we ask you to bring NHS App access with you.
Can you request my NHS medical records for me?
Yes — we can request your NHS medical records once you have completed our NHS Data Collection Consent Form. To obtain the form, email mail@readyhealth.co.uk or call us. We cannot request this information without the completed consent form.
Can I get a sick note for university or college?
Yes. Our clinicians can assess your suitability to study and issue certification for university, college or other institutions in the same way as for employment, where it is clinically appropriate.
