What is ADHD Titration?

ADHD titration is the process of finding the right type and dose of ADHD medication for your body and your needs.
It’s not a “one-size-fits-all” situation — everyone responds differently.

During titration, we:

  • Start at a safe, low dose.

  • Gradually adjust based on your response.

  • Monitor for side effects and benefits.

  • Support you throughout your journey, including in the monthly appointments.

The ADHD Titration Process at Ready Health

  • Initial ADHD Assessment (if you haven’t already had one) We start with a full ADHD assessment to confirm diagnosis and understand your needs. We can also titrate other private diagnosis if the diagnosis has been conducted in the UK and is within the last 12 months. (We will require a full copy of your report prior to your appointment so when booking your appointment, please allow time to send this and your Clinician to review.
  • Start Low & Go Slow Upon starting your titration journey we begin with a safe starting dose, chosen for your lifestyle and health.
  • Regular Check-ins During your monthly titrations we’ll review your symptoms, daily functioning, and any side effects. This can be done online or face-to-face.
  • Finding Your ‘Sweet Spot’ The goal is to reach the dose that gives you maximum benefit with minimal side effects.
  • Shared Care (optional) Once you are on a stable dose and medication, we can work with your NHS GP to take over prescriptions if agreed.

How Long Does ADHD Titration Take?

Every person is different and every NHS GP have different requirements to agree to a shared care plan. For most people, titration lasts 6 months, but it depends on your response to the medication. Our qualified Clinicians are experts in ensuring that they understand how you are during the titration process to ensure your care and wellbeing is paramount.
We move at your pace — no pressure, no rushing.

Ready to Start?

ADHD medication can be life-changing when the dose is right.
Let’s find your right fit — safely, clearly, and with full support.

Each titration appointment at Ready Health Clinic in Standish lasts around 30 minutes and includes a full check-in with your clinician, personalised advice on the most appropriate medication and starting dose, a private prescription (known as a pink slip), and secure delivery of your prescription to you by tracked post.

If your clinician believes medication may be beneficial, this will be clearly outlined in your ADHD assessment report following your consultation at Ready Health Clinic in Standish. Most people begin with stimulant medications, which can help improve focus, reduce restlessness, and make it easier to manage frustration or irritability. However, in some cases—particularly where stimulants may not be suitable due to other health conditions—a non-stimulant medication may be recommended instead. These work differently but can still support improvements in attention, impulse control, and overall daily functioning.

If medication is recommended and you decide to begin titration to find the right medication and dose, Ready Health Clinic in Standish offers two payment options: pay monthly at £199 per appointment, or book three months in advance for a total of £550, saving £47 overall. All appointments must be paid at least 48 hours in advance to confirm and secure your booking.

Once you receive your pink slip (private prescription) from Ready Health Clinic in Standish, take it to your local pharmacy. If they have the medication in stock, they’ll dispense it to you straight away; if not, they’ll order it in and contact you when it’s ready for collection. Please note that the cost of the medication is paid directly to the pharmacy and is not included in your appointment fee.

Most ADHD medications cost between £50 to £200 per month, depending on the specific brand and dosage prescribed. This cost is paid directly to your pharmacy and is not included in any fees paid to Ready Health Clinic in Standish.

Usually, no—because this is a private ADHD diagnosis, you’ll typically need to complete private titration (medication monitoring and dose adjustments) for at least six months to ensure your treatment is stable before the NHS considers taking over. While some NHS GPs may agree to accept a shared care agreement after diagnosis, this is not guaranteed and is entirely at your GP’s discretion, so it’s always worth discussing directly with them.

In many cases, yes, but please speak to your GP first as every GP has their own criteria for a shared care agreement.
Most only once you’ve completed titration privately and have been stable on your medication for at least six consecutive months. To be eligible, you must attend all titration appointments, receive prescriptions privately during this period, and demonstrate that your treatment is safe, well-tolerated, and effective. This allows your specialist at Ready Health Clinic in Standish to confidently write to your GP with a full treatment summary, which the GP will review before deciding whether they can take on your ongoing care under shared care.

A Shared Care Agreement (SCA) is a formal arrangement that allows your ADHD care to be jointly managed by your private specialist at Ready Health Clinic in Standish and your NHS GP, once your medication is stable and well-managed. After your diagnosis and a minimum of six months of private titration on a consistent dose, your specialist can send a detailed letter to your GP outlining your diagnosis, treatment progress, and request for shared care. Your GP will then decide whether they can take on your ongoing prescribing—this isn’t guaranteed and depends on their capacity and local policy. If agreed, the shared care agreement outlines the roles of both the GP and your specialist, with the GP handling NHS prescriptions and your specialist providing ongoing clinical support. You’ll then receive your medication through the NHS and pay the standard NHS prescription charges.

Yes, you can—your ADHD diagnosis report from Ready Health Clinic in Standish is valid for 12 months, so you’re welcome to return and start medication and titration at any point within that year. If more than 12 months have passed, you may need a brief follow-up appointment to confirm that your symptoms and diagnosis remain consistent before beginning titration.
