Menopause care that gives you the time you need

Too many women wait months for an appointment, then get ten minutes to explain years of symptoms. Our clinic is built the other way round: quick to access, unhurried once you are in the room, and joined up with the rest of your care.

Same-week appointments

Most women are seen within the same week of enquiring, so you are not left managing symptoms alone for months.

Longer consultations

45 minutes for your initial assessment and 30 minutes for each follow-up. Enough time for the full picture, not just the headline symptom.

Face to face or video

Come to our Standish clinic or be seen by secure video from home. Same clinician, same assessment, same fee.

Holistic management

Hormones are one part of it. We also look at sleep, mood, bone and cardiovascular health, weight, nutrition and exercise.

GP communication included

With your consent, a summary letter goes to your GP after your appointment, so your records stay accurate and your care stays joined up.

Local clinic, national reach

A genuine bricks-and-mortar clinic in Wigan for those who want to be seen in person, with online availability across the UK.

Before your initial appointment: a pre-filled questionnaire and hormonal blood tests are required. Booking without these in place may mean your consultation has to be rescheduled. Fees cover the consultation and prescription; the cost of dispensing your medication is separate.

How it works

  1. Book and complete your questionnaire. Choose your appointment online. You will receive a detailed symptom and history questionnaire to complete before you attend.
  2. Have your hormonal bloods done. Blood tests must be completed ahead of your appointment so your results are available on the day. We can arrange these for you if you do not already have them.
  3. Your 45-minute consultation. Full assessment with a female GP specialising in menopause, in Standish or by video, ending with a treatment decision and a written plan.
  4. Follow-up and GP letter. A summary goes to your GP with your consent, and we review you at around four weeks to fine-tune your treatment.

What your consultation covers

A comprehensive menopause assessment is more than a symptom checklist. Every initial consultation covers the following as standard.

Treatment options we offer

Your plan is built around your symptoms, your risk profile and your preferences. We do not push one route, and we are equally comfortable managing women who cannot or would rather not use hormone therapy.

Body-identical hormone therapy

Regulated body-identical preparations, prescribed and titrated to your symptoms, risk profile and stage.

Systemic and vaginal routes

Systemic hormone replacement therapy alongside local vaginal treatment for genitourinary symptoms, used together where appropriate.

Testosterone assessment

Assessment for testosterone therapy in women with disabling symptoms that persist despite optimised hormone replacement therapy, prescribed only where clinically indicated.

Non-hormonal options

Evidence-based non-hormonal treatment where hormone therapy is contraindicated, not tolerated or not wanted.

Hormone therapy after 60

Individual assessment for women over 60, weighing symptom burden against cardiovascular, breast and bone health before advising on treatment.

Complex and treatment-resistant cases

Women with co-morbidities, previous treatment failures, contraindications or complex symptom profiles are welcome.

Menopause clinic questions, answered

What happens at a menopause consultation at Ready Health?

Your initial appointment lasts 45 minutes with a female GP who holds a special interest in women's health and menopause. She takes a full menopause and medical history, scores your symptoms, and reviews breast, cardiovascular and bone health risk alongside sleep, mood, sexual wellbeing, urinary symptoms, weight and lifestyle. You leave with a written treatment plan and a summary letter is sent to your GP.

Do I need blood tests before my menopause appointment?

Yes. We ask every patient to complete a pre-appointment questionnaire and to have hormonal blood tests done before the consultation. This means your appointment is spent on assessment and treatment planning rather than waiting on results, and it allows a treatment decision to be made on the day wherever it is clinically appropriate.

How much does a private menopause consultation cost?

An initial menopause consultation is £149 and lasts 45 minutes. A follow-up appointment is £119 and lasts 30 minutes, normally around four weeks after your initial consultation. Both fees are prescription inclusive.

Is the prescription included in the price?

Yes. Prescriptions are included in both the £149 initial consultation and the £119 follow-up. There is no separate prescription charge. The cost of dispensing your medication is separate and depends on the treatment prescribed.

Can I be seen by a female doctor?

Yes. Our menopause clinic is led by Dr Zobia Younes, a female General Practitioner with a special interest in women's health and menopause care and a member of the British Menopause Society.

Do you offer appointments online or face to face?

Both. You can be seen face to face at our Standish clinic on High Street in Wigan, or by secure video consultation anywhere in the UK. The consultation length, assessment and fee are the same either way.

Can I start hormone replacement therapy if I am over 60?

Age alone does not rule out treatment. We assess women over 60 individually, weighing symptoms, cardiovascular and breast health risk, bone health and the route of administration before advising whether hormone replacement therapy is appropriate for you.

What if hormone replacement therapy is not suitable for me?

Not everyone can or wants to take hormone replacement therapy. Where it is contraindicated or unwanted, we discuss evidence-based non-hormonal options alongside targeted lifestyle, nutrition, sleep and exercise support, and we still provide a written plan and a letter to your GP.

Do you treat perimenopause, PMS and PMDD?

Yes. We see women across the whole hormonal picture, including perimenopause, menopause, premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. We also see women with more complex histories, including co-morbidities, previous treatment failures and contraindications.

Will my GP be told about my treatment?

Yes, with your consent. A GP summary letter is included in the price of your consultation so that your GP record stays accurate and your ongoing care is joined up.
