Not sure if you have ADHD? Take our free ADHD test first

If you have ever wondered “how do I know if I have ADHD?” or “do I have ADHD?”, our free online ADHD test is the easiest place to start. This free ADHD self-test uses the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checker, developed with the World Health Organisation — an 18-question ADHD test that takes about 3 minutes, with your answers available immediately.

Use it as a quick adult ADHD test or, with a parent, as a starting point for a child. It helps you decide whether a full private ADHD assessment is worth booking — and your results point you straight to the right next step.

✓ Free online ADHD test — no cost, no referral
✓ Full 18-question ASRS-v1.1 symptom checklist
✓ Takes about 3 minutes — answers immediately
✓ Adult ADHD test & child ADHD check
✓ A screening tool, not a diagnosis

The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checklist is a recognised screening tool only. A positive screen does not confirm ADHD, and a negative one does not rule it out — only a full clinical assessment can give you an answer. Developed in conjunction with the World Health Organisation.

After your assessment

What happens after an ADHD diagnosis?

A diagnosis is the beginning of getting the right support, not the end. Your written report sets out clear, personalised next steps — and whatever you decide, you stay in control of your care.

Your diagnostic report

You receive a full written report within 48 hours, suitable to share with your GP, school or employer. We can send it to your GP directly if you prefer.

ADHD medication & titration

If medication is appropriate, our private ADHD titration & medication management service finds the safest effective dose through careful, gradual titration.

Shared care with your GP

Once you’re stable on the same medication and dose, we’re happy to support a shared-care agreement so your GP can take over routine prescribing, where they agree.

ADHD coaching & therapy

Medication doesn’t fix routines or organisation. Our ADHD coaching for adults and teens builds practical strategies for focus, time management and daily life.

Already got a diagnosis?

Start or continue your ADHD medication

If you already hold a recognised ADHD diagnosis — from the NHS or another private provider — you don’t need a fresh assessment. Our private ADHD titration & medication management service can review your report and continue your treatment safely, online UK-wide or in person in Wigan, with shared-care support for your GP.

Common questions

Private ADHD assessment FAQs

Do I need a referral for a private ADHD assessment?
No. You do not need a GP referral to book a private ADHD assessment with Ready Health. You can book directly online, choose online or face-to-face, and self-refer as an adult, or as a parent on behalf of a child.
How much does a private ADHD assessment cost?
An adult (16+) online ADHD consultation with report is £499 and face-to-face is £699. A child (6+) online ADHD consultation with report is £649 and face-to-face is £849. Every assessment includes a full written diagnostic report.
Can I get a same-day ADHD assessment and how quickly will I know?
Appointments can usually be booked quickly with no NHS-style waiting list. A diagnosis is typically confirmed verbally at the end of your appointment, and your full written report is issued within 48 hours.
Are ADHD assessments online or face-to-face?
Both. Online ADHD assessments are available UK-wide by secure video. Face-to-face assessments are carried out at our clinic at 22 High Street, Standish, Wigan, serving Wigan, Standish, Chorley, Leyland, Preston, Bolton and Warrington.
What ages do you assess for ADHD?
We assess children from age 6, adolescents aged 12 to 16, and adults aged 16 and above. A parent or guardian must be involved throughout for anyone under 18.
What clinical standards do your ADHD assessments follow?
All assessments follow NICE guidelines — the same clinical standards used within the NHS — and are completed using DIVA-5 and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. They are carried out by qualified nurses or clinical pharmacists who hold recognised ADHD specialist qualifications.
How long does an ADHD assessment take?
Appointments typically last 1 to 2 hours, giving the clinician time to complete a thorough, structured assessment and discuss the outcome with you.
Do you assess children, and is school input needed?
Yes, we assess children from age 6. Children’s assessments require school input. Questionnaires that can be completed by the school are emailed to you upon booking so they can be returned ahead of the appointment.
I already have an ADHD diagnosis — can you help with medication?
Yes. If you already hold a recognised ADHD diagnosis, our private ADHD titration and medication management service can review your report and continue your treatment, online UK-wide or in person in Wigan.
Is a private ADHD diagnosis recognised by the NHS?
Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and use DSM-5 and DIVA-5 criteria, the same standards used within the NHS, and you receive a full written report to share with your GP. Once you are stable on medication, many GPs will accept a shared-care agreement, though this is always at your GP practice’s discretion. We recommend confirming with your GP whether they accept shared care from a private CQC-registered provider.
Can I transfer from another ADHD provider?
Yes. If you have a recognised ADHD diagnosis from the NHS or another private provider, you can transfer your care to us without a fresh assessment. Email your assessment report to mail@readyhealth.co.uk and our clinician will check it meets recognised standards before continuing your titration and medication management.
Do I need medication after an ADHD diagnosis?
No. Medication is one option, not a requirement. Some people choose ADHD coaching, workplace or school adjustments and lifestyle strategies instead of, or alongside, medication. Your clinician will discuss what suits you, and you stay in control of your care throughout.
Is there a free online ADHD test or check?
Yes. Ready Health offers a free online ADHD check that uses the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checker, developed with the World Health Organisation. It takes a few minutes, gives an instant result, and is a useful first step — but it is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A full assessment is needed to confirm ADHD.
How do I know if I have ADHD?
A quick way to start is our free online ADHD test, which uses the WHO ASRS-v1.1 symptom checker — 18 questions, about 3 minutes, with answers available immediately. It indicates whether your symptoms are consistent with ADHD, but only a full clinical assessment can confirm a diagnosis. If your result suggests ADHD, you can book a private ADHD assessment with no referral.
Is there a free ADHD test for adults and children?
Yes. The same free online ADHD test works as an adult ADHD test and, completed with a parent, as a starting-point check for children. It is free, takes about 3 minutes, and needs no referral. For under-18s a parent or guardian should be involved, and a full assessment is always needed to confirm ADHD.
Is the online ADHD self-check a diagnosis?
No. The free online check is based on the WHO Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1) screener. It is a screening indicator only and cannot diagnose ADHD. A formal diagnosis requires a full clinical assessment.
