Pessary Replacement

Your comfort and confidence matter most. Our pessary replacement service offers gentle, professional care to help you feel supported every day.

Ring Pessary Replacement at Ready Health

At Ready Health, we provide replacement services for existing vaginal ring pessaries only – we do not fit new pessaries. It’s essential that you know your current pessary size before your appointment, as we can only replace the same size. Ring pessaries are effective, but they need to be changed every 3–6 months to prevent infection and ensure you remain comfortably fitted.

Although effective, they need to be changed every 4-6 months to avoid infection and to make sure that you’re still fitted with the right size.

What to expect during your replacement

During your appointment, your clinician will discuss your current pessary and any issues you’ve experienced. Once you’re in a comfortable position, a qualified medical professional will carefully remove your existing pessary and replace it with a new one, checking with you throughout the process to ensure it sits correctly. A well-fitted pessary should not be noticeable once in place. The procedure usually takes around 20–30 minutes, and most women experience only mild, brief discomfort. After your replacement, you’ll have the option to schedule your next appointment in advance to make ongoing care simple and convenient.

How often to replace your ring pessary

Most ring pessaries need replacing every 3–6 months, or sooner if you experience discomfort. Our clinicians are available year-round to provide affordable, timely care without long waits, helping you maintain your women’s health safely and comfortably.

Ring pessary replacement cost

At Ready Health, the private cost for a ring pessary replacement is £179, which includes your consultation with our qualified healthcare professionals. We provide a comfortable, confidential, and efficient service to ensure your treatment is straightforward and stress-free.

A vaginal ring pessary might be the right treatment for you if you have weak pelvic floor muscles and your bladder or bowel has fallen into your vaginal canal. Although it sounds alarming, it’s actually relatively common – especially among women who:
- Are pregnant
- Have recently or previously given birth
- Are going through the menopause
- Are overweight or obese
- Smoke
- Lift weights
There are some slight risks to having a pessary ring fitted, like finding it difficult to wee or poo, and experiencing pain or bleeding in the vagina. However, they can be a great alternative to surgical intervention or alongside pelvic floor physiotherapy.
